He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted and purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Noble and pious. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing, joyous; 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
