He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 you attend to him, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
