He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 You pay full attention, 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 In honored books, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
