He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 You pay full attention, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
