He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 you attended to him, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 From him you are distracted. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 noble and pious. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 olives, dates, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
