He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 Olives and dates, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
