He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 you attend to him, 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and in awe of God 9 you pay him no heed. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted, purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and grass, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 wife and sons, 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Dust shall cover them 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
