He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and fears (Allah), 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let man consider his food: 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
