The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is covered, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 And when souls are united, 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
