The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 by the night when it approaches 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
