The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is covered, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 For what sin she was killed 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 by the night swarming, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 So where are you going? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
