The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 by the night swarming, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
