The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 and the night that falls, 17 And the breath of morning 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
