The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Where then are you going? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
