The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
