The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 on a great day 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 It is a distinctly written record. 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 then they shall roast in Hell. 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 On couches, gazing, 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 On thrones, they will look. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
