The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 On thrones, they will look. 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
