The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 a written record, 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
