The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
