The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
