The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
