The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
