The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
