The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
