The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
