The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
