The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
