The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 The piercing star! 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
