The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
