The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 And the earth which opens up with verdure, 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 They are devising guile, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
