The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 The piercing star! 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
