The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 The piercing star! 3 For every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 and the replenishing earth, 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
