The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 and is no idle tale. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
