The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 and is no idle tale. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 and I am devising guile. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
