The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
