Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a lofty garden, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
