Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 and arranged cushions 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
Almighty Allah's Truth.
