Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
