Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions ranged 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
