Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
