Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 and arranged cushions 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
