Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 labouring, weary, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 cushions ranged, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the heaven how it has been raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
