Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
