Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 laboring, wornout, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 cushions ranged, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
