Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 raised couches, 13 And cups put in place 14 And cushions lined up 15 And carpets spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
