The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
