Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 in a Garden on high, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 and raised couches, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
