Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
