The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
