Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 raised couches, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
