Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)

In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets laid out, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
